Dolly shots in Brussels

Just back from a job in Brussels working alongside Edinburgh based Seven Three agency. I was helping them shoot for a Radisson Hotel film which will be aimed at encouraging large productions to use their hotel facilities. We filmed the exterior of the Radisson on the Royal Mile early one morning to get a dark vibe. The rest of the locations were in the Radisson Grand in Brussels.

The requirement was to get dolly shots of several spaces during dusk/nightime and a projection would later be added in post production tracked to the dolly movement. Originally I had planned to use a tracked dolly but due to the length of track needed the track would end up being in shot at the widest point. We therefore decided to use a wheeled truck with bazooka to get the shots needed.

As we weren’t able to recce the space, gauging what lights we needed was a challenge - in the end many of spaces were nicely lit and we just added some diffused light and a few hard sources to accentuate different areas to help create contrast. We used a local hire house Lites.be who supplied most of the gear.
